The Walker 1 Ton Balance Drive Electric Truck was manufactured by the Walker Vehicle Company Chicago, U.S.A. During the early twenties, Harrods Limited had a fleet of 60 vehicles in the distinctive green and cream livery, and these electric vans used to deliver goods to Harrods customers throughout London.
The van is driven by an electric motor, developing 3.5 h.p. contained within the differential housing of the rear axle. The vans had a range of around 50-60 miles per charge, depending on the gradients, with a maximum speed of 12 m.p.h.
Today, the only known example is owned by Harrods Limited, Knightsbridge, and can be seen taking part in the annual historical Commercial Vehicle London to Brighton Run.
Battery - 60 cell Edison, Nickel Iron, Nominal 72 volts. Battery weight - 11 cwt. Overall weight - 2 tons, 7 cwt.

The final release was in 1989 and once again for Harrods. This Harrod's Special Bread Delivery van was also in a dark military green with a dark green canopy and wheels. It was also packed in a special Harrods box box.
